People attending CSC workshop

Our workshops and events are designed for a wide range of research projects and processes. We also provide Do-It-Yourself workshop materials to explore at your own pace.

By working in partnership, the CSC aims to provide you with access to relevant workshops offered by Advanced Research Computing, the Office of Research Services, and the UBC Okanagan library.

Some of the workshops we offer include “Writing the Research Article,” “Selecting Quality Journals for Publication,” and “Research Data Management”. For current offerings, see our calendar below.

Researchers at all levels are welcome to attend our workshops. We encourage you to sign up to receive regular CSC email updates to stay up to date on our upcoming workshops and other CSC services.

2022 CSC Writers’ Retreat: June 7-9

Kick-start your summer research project at the 2022 CSC Writers’ Retreat! This 3-day event is designed to help graduate students and postdoctoral fellows get their writing projects off to a productive and healthy start. You can choose to participate in this hybrid retreat online or in-person; there is limited in-person availability with priority given to those who register first.

Centre for Scholarly Communication staff will moderate live discussion, facilitate writing sessions, and provide support for a wide range of scholarly writing projects. We will be available to provide assistance at any stage of the writing process from brainstorming to final revisions. Our number one goal is to have each participant make progress on a writing project in a supportive online environment and to establish habits for personal writing success.

Participants should bring their own research and writing project to work on during the retreat, along with anything they need to support their writing. In addition, participants will gain access to a variety of online resources during the retreat, which they can access independently and refer back to after the retreat is over. Resources and discussion topics include goal setting, writing motivation and writer’s block, and health and wellness topics, among others.
